I wondered if I should write this post depressingly or should I just be tremendously happy to welcome the year of 2010.

In a few more days to come, I'll turn 28. An age that I've never expected myself to be whom I am now! Just ridiculously WTF!

When I was a naive 18 yrs old girl, these was how I thought I will be in 10yrs time:

Old and mature, with a career of course!
Just got married, starting a new family, of course with the guy I was with. (Well, I did really plan to marry him. He's a BF + Husband material. Too bad, he's not mine anymore and he's already taken.)

Blah! Too much disclosure.

And I am just the total opposite of what I've been thinking of, while many are getting marry or have been already married. Some are with children too! Wow..this is the age where I should have been called an "AUNTY"! Gosh, keep me out of this!

Thinking of all the things that I've done for the year 2009, let me list down a few accomplishments (though there are some negative ones. sigh~) :

I'm still attached to Sony. Still in the same department, working on embedded programming. Bravo to me! Ending this week, it'll mark 1yr 10mths.

Gain some weight. That's about 3kg of weight. My last weight recorded a surprisingly 48kg. I remembered there was once I almost hit 50kg. Sigh. I shall make a new year resolution to lose the extra weight that I've gained. Needless to say, I shall skip all supper, oily food, and do more exercise!

I run more than I've done all this while! Challenged the Standard Chartered 10km marathon, and I'd clocked about 1hr 42mins. For some time, I've been diligently slow jogging for at least 30mins, 3 times a week (It was 1 hr practice before the marathon). However, being hardworking makes no good for my thighs and calves. They are growing bigger.

Lost my handbag and phone. Karen was the unlucky one too! We kept our belongings in the car while touring around Titiwangsa Lake, and it was just the right time for our stuffs to be stolen! Our damages: 2 Coach wallets, 1 Nokia handphone, few hundreds MYR, and about 500 HKD! Curse on the thieves!!

A few attacks of sprained wrist on the right hand. I was very worried that it will be the Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS), though the doctor said that it was not! However, Mum is the unlucky one. She'll be having the CTS surgery on the 6th of Jan 2010. Pray for the success of her surgery (though it's a minor surgery) and good health in 2010.

Heavily on bandaged. And I acted as if I'm ULTRAMAN.

Submitted my Master application. Pray hard that I'll be selected! (Mali-mali-mali-hom..come to me!!)

Keeping my hair short. Yeah, it's a year with hair shorter than my shoulder length.

Biggest lost of the year - a relationship, a love that is not able to grow beyond 3 yrs. Not to worry about me, I'm healing.

Lastly, Baby Cheng and I decided to start our blog. And this is the blog that you are reading right now!

I'm not a person who will make new year resolutions every year. NOT EXACTLY INTO IT. Because I'll never stick to it, and I bet most of the people don't too!

However, for the coming year, I'll make myself a motto:

LIVE LIFE ABUNDANTLY!

Life is short. So, live life as if there's no tomorrow. Be better tomorrow than today.

Confession of X'mas!

Merry X'mas!!!!

I've been abandoning the blog for quiet some time. Gosh, I feel real bad. And since X'mas is just around the corner, this is the opportunity for me to redeem myself. *big grin*

** Baby Cheng is still busy, with study & exams. Poor her!

I'm superbly glad that I'll be having a long holiday, starting tomorrow, marking the date of 25th December 2009 till 4th of January 1010. It'll be a stay-at-home, relax time out from just anything. I've been crazily stressed at work over the past few months. It was just scary.

Work --> Work --> Work. The never ending work. My brain is seldom at rest. And I just couldn't believe myself that I've been an evil working machine at work. Some of them are little achievements that I should be quite proud of. Haha~

Here's a list of my crazy happening events in office (or just anything related/caused by my office buddies):

Staying overnight in office. Clock out only at 5am!
Lots of supper. Thanks to late office leaving, most of the time, it's around 9-10pm.
Crazily catch up on the Digital TV knowledge and C++. Just before I have time to learn what OOP is about, I'm already started coding. Thanks Muz for always chasing stuffs!
Shouted at Casley Blast for irritating me. It was just an emotional breakdown. I felt guilty now. Sorry! (If you do happen to read this)
Some WEIRD/CRAZY people keep reading my monitor. (or shall i say watching me from behind?)
Being put on an outing that I do not have any idea.
Knowing a fanatic people (SohBeng) that declare himself from an "awesome" planet.
Scandals of me, rumouring around. Needless to say.

I think I just need a small space or just a short moment for me to burst out loud. So here it goes. Kinda stupid, I know.

Just a small post on the X'mas eve. Have fun everyone! I'll gonna have a blast, and hope everybody will have the same.

An Unfruitful SS501 Autograph Session

3rd Sept 2009. I made a silly outing which I predict not many people at my age will do. It was extremely silly because there was nothing that Baby Cheng and me had benefited from it.

Gosh~

We went to the Korean Boy Band, SS501 Autograph Session!

At first, we thought that it was a "Meet The Fans" session, where they will be having a short performance plus the autograph session, hence we make our way there. To our disappointment, only autograph session was held. Sigh~

Arriving late, around 6.15pm, we do not hope for anything good. Baby Cheng was late, due to massive jam at MRR2, despite the fact that she tried to leave college around 3.30pm. I was driving like a mad fella, overtaking cars and speeding wherever I can.

On the way up to Jasmine/Orchid Ballroom in One World Hotel, we noticed this inside the elevator.

Unbelievably crowded. I could not believe it with my eyes! Never had it come to my mind that SS501 already has so many fans in Malaysia, what more when the announcement of the fans meeting session was only confirmed the day before!

We tried to make our ways to the queue, only to find out that the security was very tight.

Personnel guarded outside the ballroom, at all accessible areas.

Outside the glass door, we found out that SS501 members were inside the ballroom area. Fans were lead into the ballroom, in a small numbers. Once, the door were opened, all the fans were screaming! HAVOC! Total havoc, I mean! They were pushing among themselves too!

For us, we had no chance to meet SS501 at all! All the CDs were sold out. No performance. And they were seated inside the ballroom! No point queuing anymore. We were disappointed.

10 minutes later, some fans exiting the ballroom in a very calm, peaceful manner. Once outside, they started to scream happily! The joy of meeting SS501 and getting their signature!

Some are frustrated too! WHY? Due to the overwhelming response from the fans, they are only allowed to get one member's signature, to provide opportunities for all the fans to meet SS501. To make thing worse, they are not allowed to choose which member's they were like to have signature on their CDs. It was decided by the management so that SS501 will be able to catch their flight which was scheduled later at night.

DAMM IT! Baby Cheng had frustrated me! A LOT! I really mean A LOT!! She had beaten my high scores for the Minesweeper "Expert" with 99 bombs!

She was extremely excited with her result that she called me up at work, telling me of her achievement.

Crustacean Dinner at Restaurant Vong Fatt for Merdeka Day!

Crab-bies. Yeah! Sounded happy? Still, I am not the number one fans of the crab-bies. Baby Cheng is.

Baby Cheng is a food fanatic whom really love eating to the max! Me? Second. Lolz. She doesn't seem to be able to reject good food. Haha..

She wanted to have the crustacean on the Merdeka Day. Her day was rather unpleasant because she was spending her whole day being at home, on a very important project, i.e. studying for final. I wonder if she really did study well with full concentration since the whole family was on an outing to Mid Valley without her. Bet NOT!!

So, the story goes on with us having dinner at a seafood restaurant in Seri Kembangan. I've forgotten to get the name card, so no details this time. But..but..but..the restaurant is located very near to Chan Yew Kee (previously know as Starlight), in Pusat Perdagangan Seri Kembangan.

The restaurant that we went to is - Restoran Vong Fatt. It started its business since quite awhile ago, and was recommended by my dad's friend.

Inside the restaurant, we saw their menu was stick on the wall.

And, some publishing about the restaurant. Perhaps it was recommended in the newspaper. And well, one in Japanese (I wondered if it was recommended in the Japanese newspaper? Internet maybe?).

Here are the dishes that we had ordered:

Sweet and Sour Crab with fried Mantou
Kangkung Belacan
Sweet and Sour Pork a.k.a. "Gu Lou Yoke"
Dragon And Tiger Reunion a.k.a. "Lung Fu Wui" (This is their special dish which I bet you will not be able to try that at any other places!)

And here comes the main dish of the day!

I bet I do not need to say more about the other norm dishes, because, well, they do taste normal. Nothing spectacular, except that the Sweet and Sour Pork was a little soft (not crunchy at all). I will only give an average rating to those dishes.

So, for the Dragon and Tiger Reunion (this was directly translated from Cantonese "Lung Fu Wui", lolz..), I've to say that this dish is very special. It was spicy and moderately milky, with some seafood taste. I can find crab, prawns, squid, "Lala", "Tin Kai", and some Chinese herbs.

The whole pot was served on a portable burner, to heat up the pot and to keep warm.

The first few sips was a little strange though the taste was acceptable. Soon after, you will taste the sweetness of the seafood. I will definitely recommend this!

However, during our visit, we had an encounter with the not-so-fresh prawns. But the shop is kind enough to replace all our prawns with fresh fish slice. Not bad hor? And the service is quite good. They keep apologizing for the non-fresh prawns, which made us felt a little "pai seh" for the complaint. And a little drawback for this dish is that it is quite pricey, at RM48 per pot.

All the dishes were quite small in portion. Nevertheless, give it a try! It is worth to try something new.

A New Experiment with Ettusais

Ettusais, it shall be read/pronouns as "et-tu-seh". Ettusais is well known for their medicated acne skin care, target mainly on adult acne!

A little curious on the reason of this new exploration into a totally brand new skin care? Well, my skin is getting bad lately, as well as Baby Cheng. Hers is at a much more worsen condition than mine, probably due to stress from exams and lack of sleep.

The newly repacked balancing Artistry essentials were too oily for my preference. Oil control does not work very well on my skin. Pimples keep resurfacing even though I do apply plenty of Artistry Blemish Gel. I preferred the old balancing Artistry essentials, sadly, it's not in production anymore. Yet, I've to admit that some Artistry products are awesome! I'm into their Blemish Gel and Time Defiance Skin Refinishing Lotion.

So, to start off, I google-d around for details. Some netizens said that Ettusais is a Japanese brand name under the name of Shiseido. It might be true. Reading from the packaging, it was written in Japanese.

Plenty of positive feedback from bloggers on Ettusais products. Hence, I decided to give it a try. By the way, this is the link to their website: http://www.ettusais.sg. They have a wide range of anti-acne products. Note that the price in S$ is higher (after conversion to RM).

Here are my damages:

A 3-step skin care consists of Acne Gentle Wash, Skin Version Up Extra (serum with collagen), and Aqua Shooter Extra (toner). First, rub the soap until foamy, gather the foam and apply it to the face. Wash as usual (gently, of course!). 2nd step, immediately apply the Skin Version Up Extra. This will enhance the skin to absorp better. Lastly, apply the Aqua Shooter Extra. The combination of this 3 steps shall give a moist skin. If not, apply the moisturizer.

A 3-step skin care.

Pore minimizer set. Zero Pore Coat for day use (can be used as a base), and Zero Pore Mask for night (A few drops on the face will do. No need to wash.).

Acne Nighttime Defense. Apply this at night as the last step. It helps to regulate the oil production hence the skin will be less oily.

As a token for purchasing these stuff, the kind product assistant gave me some samples. She was not stingy though. She gave me plenty of samples on the products that I did not purchase. Love it till the max!

Betty Crocker's Chocolate Brownies D.I.Y

Argh..it's been quite some time since I last bake. I was really lazy though. Me, on a peaceful Sunday, just wanted to laze around the house doing nothing. NOTHING AT ALL.

I was convinced by Mummy to bake since there will be no breakfast for Monday. She wanted carrot cake, but I find it too tedious. After all, I'm just lazy to shred the carrots.

Hence, I made brownies. To be exact, Betty Crocker's Chocolate Brownies. My ex-colleague, Erizna, introduced this to me. She is a wonderful cook. She can bake very well, really! I wondered if she still does bake in Australia.

Let's get the ingredients ready:

Betty Crocker's Chocolate Brownies prepacked mix. (I only managed to find this in Cold Storage)
As stated on the back of the box, prepared 1/2 cup of vegetable oil, 3 tbsp of water, 2 or 3 eggs.
Extra ingredients as you desired. I put in walnuts and extra chocolate chips.

The Main Ingredients

Walnuts and Chocolate Chips (ooppss..it's blurred)

Follow the steps below:

Step 1. Place the eggs into a mixing bowl and beat them until fluffy.

Step 2. Add in Betty Crocker's Chocolate Brownies Mix.

Step 3. Add in oil and water.

Step 4. Lastly, add in your desired ingredients.

Step 5. Grease the pan. I used a 8x8" pan. Soon after, transfer the mixture into the pan.

Step 6. Put in to bake. Adjust the setting to be plus minus 160C, for about 30-50 minutes. These settings actually depends on your oven's condition. The best of all is to observe the baking condition from time to time and re-adjust your setting.

And tadaa..this is the final product!

Anyway, hope you will try to make this one day. Add in more chocolate chips if you want it to be chocolaty.

Stumbled upon a lovely cup cake on one of the weekend's morning. I wasn't really paying attention to this as I just wanted to have something for breakfast, until Baby Cheng said "Jie, look at this. It's a love shape raisin."

Wow..that really cute. Mommy bought cup cakes from Baker's Cottage as one of our snack-y bites. Never had we come across a lovely one.

An Outing With Riddick

An outing again. This time, Baby Cheng is diligently studying at home. Bro just came back from Vietnam on Friday (which means he is earning a lot of money to spend! ..hehehe..), so both of us went out for a movie and some shopping in KLCC.

Discussing about movie, do you think "G.I. Joe" is good? I did not receive really good comments about the movie. First, CatFish said he watched it for the action. Second, MengYee said the storyline is silly a.k.a. childish, nothing much by the way. She recommended "District 9" instead. Alien? Hmm..she sure has a certain taste in movie, and since the movie is new, so both of us decided to go for it.

"District 9" was indeed quite different from my liking. Science fiction, thriller, action. A little bit bored in the beginning, but until the end, it is action packed. Quite interesting for me! Check out IMDB for the review and ratings.

Okay. It's confession time. I did some shopping today. However, the money was spent wisely, a good investment, i would say. BOOKS.

There is an advertisement on today's The Star newspaper about the Malaysia's Bookfest in KLCC Convention Centre. So I thought, it's a good time for me to get the rest of the Twilight Saga series, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. Eventhough I've already completed reading them, I do think it's worthwhile to collect a complete series. Nonetheless, Stephenie Meyer is good.

I've yet to complete the two books which I had bought from Kinokuniya a few weeks back. Guess all these books are going to keep me occupied and grounded at home. No more shopping. It's time to stay at home and be a good girl.

Totally Shock!!

OH MY GOD! I did not believe my eyes when I see them!

After withdrawing money from Maybank's ATM, I quickly hold the newly withdraw money and my purse; not wasting any time, I walked across to a shoe shop where Mommy was in. I tried to fold the money so that I would be able to slot them into zipper compartment of my handbag.

WTF! The stack of money was so hard to fold. Feeling weird, and a little nervous too, I took a good look of the money. Gosh~ I do not know it for real. The RM50 notes look so much different!

The first question that came to my fickle mind was "ARE THEY FAKE? DAMN, I HAVE A WHOLE STACK! WTH!"

I tried to calm down myself or else Mommy will be more nervous than me. I tried hard to convince myself. Believing it, for God's sake, I think they are real. By the way, I've just withdraw them from a proper ATM machine. There's no reason anyone, anyhow was able to swap the fake money into the ATM machine. No conspiracy here. I told myself.

Back home, I google-d for the new RM50 notes. Huh~. Truly, they are the new notes. *smile*

Gosh..he looked so much like a puppy despite the fact that he's about 60kg, with his head bigger than mine and is able to stand tall reaching my height.

Bare in mind that even with his childish character to be gentle and playful, his is able to make strong attacks on human. No one in my family had escape his playfulness, with the impact of scratches and bruises.

And yet, yesterday he was such a CUTIE! I can't resist to just walk away and ignore his cute laying position. So here it goes, a blog for the cutie!

The Devilline Weekend

Ouch..ouch..my wrist is still aching, even after taking ponstan, applied counter-pain and now, I had my wrist bandaged!

WeLoveOutings kaki(s) had a great weekend. Our hang-out to shop for Hui Ping's new phone and her birthday celebration at Shangri-la Hotel was marvellous! We named it "The Devilline Weekend".

Haha..sounds secretive yeah? Devilline is actually Hui Ping's nickname, or more of a webname; I would say. Her English name is Angeline, and somehow she transformed her name to a cuter, kinky ones, Devilline.

Saturday. We went to IKANO to get her phone. GOSH! Her dad is splurging her with a new phone which she had been nagging about wanting one since 2 years back. (And followed by a lunch buffet at Shangri-la Hotel on Sunday!) What a splurge!

Oops..no photos of us getting the phone as the shop (Sony Center) was extremely busy. Anyway, she got a SE W508i.

We then head to Ikea's Cafe for lunch, or erm..tea will be more appropriate. LOLz.

The D&G l'eau the one is a perfume that I've never come across with. I don't know why. But this perfume will be one of my favourite perfume because it is fruity and sweet. *Niceee..* This will be the addition to our family (Shookie, Baby Cheng and Cher Hau) of perfumes - Lancome's Miracle, Anna Sui's Love, Emporio Armani's Diamond, CK's CKIn2U and Mont Blanc's Starwalker.

BOOKS. Oh gosh, I've been really abandoning them for long! Both Dorothy Koomson and Stephenie Meyer are my favourite writers. I just love the way they detailed every points and narrate every moment. My first reading with their books are "Goodnight, beautiful" and the twilight saga series, "Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn". These books are really too yummy that I've only spent about 3-4 days on every book. I've yet to start on these books, but I'll do soon, when I really have time for them! *promise*

I'll pen off now. The joint between my thumb and palm is aching again, and I'm wearing a supportive glove. *ouch ouch* Will see a doctor soon if the pain still persist.

Not too long ago, Lavender sent me an email on PJ Hilton 25th Anniversary Cake Promotion, for the month of May. Their chocolate cake, retailing at rm68++, is selling at RM25++ (reservation needed).

Hence, we called PJ Hilton to make our reservation on 30th May. Disappointed! The reservation for that day is full. Despite so, we were informed that the promotion had been extended until the end of June 2009! And the earliest we can have the cake is on the 12th of June!

B.A.L.I Exploration Day 4 - FinaLe!

Finally it has come to the last day of our trip. 4days trip for Bali might be a little short. I think a 6days trip will be better! (Well, that only if our budget allow us to do so >_< )

Day 4 (26th May)

Our finale day was a FREE & EASY day which means it was a shopping day!! We started our day a little late, approximately about 9am because of the "not enough rest" over the past few days.

The first splurge is on our fingers and toes! Yeah..we had the BALI manicure and pedicure!! We're approached by a lady on the street and we managed to bargain for IDR 50,000 per person. Cheap?

While we shopped for souvenirs for our colleagues and friends, we managed to get ourselves some nice stuffs too! It was sales everywhere in Kuta Street so we just need to find for the best bargain! Shopping in Bali was extremely tempting!

p/s: I heard Bandung is a heaven for shopping. At least, girls shall go to Bandung once in their lifetime? Haha..I shall start saving money now!

Midway during our shopping spree, we went back to our hotel for the free foot massage (it came with the tour package) and later we packed for hotel check-out.

We continued our shopping after the foot massage, and lunch at Kuta town. One extreme splurge was on the Polo Ralph Lauren polo T-shirts! Did you see the 50% off banner? *wink*

Lastly, we departed for KL. At the airport, we bought the Indonesia Kuih Lapis. It was USD $8 for one, and it tasted good, so it's worth the money!

Day 3 (25th May)

Tanjung Benoa
Our first destination for the day - Tanjung Benoa. It claimed to be a beautiful beach on the southern part of Bali where it offers all kind of adventurous water sports such as jet ski, para sailing, banana boat, glass bottom boat, fly fish and etc.

p/s: I felt it was too commercialized!

Soon after, we took the glass bottom boat to another small island (was it an island? i wasn't very sure..haha) located nearby to watch the gigantic turtles.

Our next itinerary to Bedegul was cancelled because we spent quite a long time at Tanjung Benoa. We were supposed to proceed to Candi Kuning Market to shop for souvenirs and handicrafts and also to visit Lake Bratan where the holy, Ulundanu Temple was built on the promontory surrounded by lake's water.

It was disappointing! Our tour guide did not guide us properly in our trip!

Our lunch at Bedugul was cancelled, instead the tour guide treated us for KFC.

To Mr.Yong (our tour guide) --> your KFC bribe was not enough to cover the incompetency in you because I'm still complaining here!

The drive to Tanah Lot was a long one. However, we managed to be there early for the sunset. Tanah Lot is famous for it's sunset and the temple built on a small rocky islet surrounded by sea water.

B.A.L.I Exploration Day 2

Gosh! I was extremely busy recently. Too hectic with work, too little rest. And yup, finally i managed to spare some time sorting out the Bali trip photos. We had thousands of pictures..really great pictures! (thanks to all the DSLR fanatic!). Here is the story of our Day 2, Bali trip

Day 2 (24th May)

Morning breakfast as early as 8.15am. Baby Cheng still looked good in the photo, after all, she was sleepless the whole night, while Shookie was in her soundless sleep. Haha~

Our first destination - Kg. Celuk and Kg. MAS, both are the Bali's famous art and craft center. Kg. Celuk is known for its gold and silver works; while Kg. MAS is a wood craving center and Ubud home of Bali's famous painting artists.

Before we proceed for buffet lunch at Kintamani, we dropped by the famous Ibu Oka Babi Guling. Babi Guling was not included in our tour, but we believed we could not miss the chance not having the extremely famous Babi Guling. A detour to Ibu Oka Babi Guling was definitely unregrettable!

Heavy rain started to purr no too long after we had sat inside the hut. Our next plan to Tampaksiring & Titra Empul was cancelled. Despite the disappointment, we could only enjoyed our time waiting for the rain to subside.

It took about 2 hours to GWK. GWK is a private cultural park carved out of the limestone rock. Here, we are able to witness the Wisnu's statue, standing high at 22m with his companion, mount Garuda, a mythical bird.

WeLoveOutings to B.A.L.I - Exploration Day 1

Gosh, we have been abandoning the blog for quite some time! Hehe! Blame me on laughing. ^^. Practically we were a bit lazy to blog, moreover, I was quite engrossed with Korean drama, and Baby Cheng was on a trip with her college's friends to Penang after completing their internship.

So, here we go, WeLoveOutings had a trip to B.A.L.I !!

Trip Details:

Travel Date : 23-26 May 2009
Participants : WeLoveOutings (Shookie & Baby Cheng), Shookie's Colleagues (Karen, Andy, Helmut, Goh, Hew, MeiMei.T, Alan)
Flight : AirAsia (as usual their flights were delayed for at least an hour!) Can't blame much because the tickets are cheap! We pay approximately RM110 per person for a return ticket.
Hotel & Tour : We bought the tour from the Matta Fair promotion. For a 3 star hotel + tour, it cost RM520 per person. We stayed at Adi Dharma Hotel, Kuta.

Day 1 (23rd May)

Let's start with our first day of trip. I'll try not to be draggy (I've lots of complaints!) because I'll be uploading lots of photos. Let the photos speak the words.

p/s: We have tonnes of nice photos! It was hard to choose and time consuming to collage all the pictures, but we manage to do it!

Departing LCCT
Our flight was delayed without any notice from AirAsia. We booked a 4.45pm flight 3 months back, but in the latest itinerary, the flight was scheduled as 5.15pm.

We arrived LCCT early 3 o'clock for our check-in. We were informed that the flight were delayed to 5.45pm. Again, NO NOTICE, NO SORRY. WTH!

Since we were on holiday, I try not to get pissed over this small thing. I was still in my good mood! Can't wait to reach Bali!

2nd irritating item for the day - We were asked by the RUDE AirAsia stewardess to change seat.

As you may have know about AirAsia's free seating policy, passengers are allowed to sit on any of their chosen seats. Little that I knew anything about the so-called "HOT SEAT", we choose to sit on the 4th row from the front since the back seats were sort of fully occupied.

After take-off, we were confronted by the AirAsia stewardess, in a very rude manner to go back to our original seat. I was pissed.

Why do I need to moved since it's free seating for everyone?
I wasn't informed of the "HOT SEAT" - seats from the front 5th rows.
Why only after take-off, only then I was asked about this?
Why wasn't there anyone to check / inform me before i sat on it?
IF there was no one on this seat originally, so why couldn't i continue sitting on it?

I was really pissed then, but i tried to compromise so that I would not spoilt my mood. Anyway, AirAsia staffs are slowly ruining their company's reputation with their STUPID, RUDE hospitality.

After 3 hours of flight (which we spend playing PSP, listening to Walkman, sleep, chit chat), we finally touch down at about 9pm, and we were directly headed to Jimbaran BBQ dinner. Too bad, we had missed the sunset.

After Dinner, we proceed to check-in at our Hotel - Adi Dharma Hotel . We were greeted by the Welcoming Drink (orange juice =.="""). I was actually too full to finish up the drink. Look at my expression!

Our Spacious Room - and my luggage bag which is huge enough for me to go to London!

Comments from TripAdvisor on this hotel - Lots of MOSQUITOES !! So, before the trip, we had prepared mosquitoes repellent. Surprisingly, we don't think the hotel is as bad as commented. Not sure if it was because we had already sprayed with mosquitoes repellent before we went out.

There are some drawbacks on my room:

Water dripped from Air-Con. However, the hotel management had rectified the problem promptly. Bravo!
Sandy floor on the last day. I thought those were sand/dust resulted from the non-thorough housekeeping, but taking a closer look, those look like the wood residues, probably from termites bites. Ewwww!! We were really tired from the outings, so we ignore it by placing the hotel's towel on the floor to cover the dusty area.

We ended our 1st day of exploration by drinking at a pub (Apache) in Kuta Street. Mind you, we are not heavy drinker. We just want to celebrate our holiday and to try out the Indonesia's Bintang Beer. YEAH~~~

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!

It was a SWEATY mother's day celebration for us. Haha..why? Because we had "Lat Tong" dinner. We celebrated it a day earlier. No special reason or excuse. Just wanted to bring Mommy for Lat Tong food splash and since she wasn't cooking yesterday, it was a great chance!

I've been to this branch twice, after the gym session at TLS Fitness Center, thanks to Lavender for recommending this restaurant. The best offer that this restaurant can offer is the additional serving of the "Lat Tong" soup! Yummy..yummy..

We were there around 8+ pm. Not many patrons at this time, which was good because we will not need to wait long for the food to be served. We ordered:

A Full Loaded Freezer With ICE-CREAM !

Gosh! My freezer is full with ICE-CREAM ! Can't really believed I've fully loaded the freezer. Luckily there's another freezer for Mommy to keep hers, else she'll be strangling me.

The story begun last weekend. I've bought 3 tubes of 1 liter King's Sundae-licious ice-cream from Giant. They were on promotion - 3 for RM10.00. If I weren't wrong, the normal price for one is about RM5.90. Being "kiasu" and greedy, I've took these 3 tubes - Chocolate Caramel, Peach & Apricot, and Kiwi. I yet to try them out, but they do look good!!

On another occasion, dated 7th May 2009 (oh, it was Baby Cheng's 21st Birthday), I tried to leave office early, at 6pm since I wanted to go back home early for dinner and to get Baby Cheng a cake. Coincidently there's Nestle Ice-Cream Promotion at my office car park. The sale was fast going.

So, emm..just to try my luck, i went over to the promotion area and I managed to get myself a box of Vanilla Drumstick (20 sticks) for RM30. Again, being "kiasu" and greedy, I wanted to try the chocolate flavoured too. Hesitating on getting so many of them, I decided to call Karen, asking if she wanted to share. Ah..ha..she eventually became my friend in crime. Both of us shared two boxes of Vanilla and Chocolate Drumstick.

Not sure how long will I need to finish these. Over the time, just hope Mommy will not be irritated with the overloaded ice-cream in the freezer.

The Not So Boring Labour Day

This is how we spend the 1st of May - LABOUR DAY ! which means it's HOLIDAY !! Yuhoo~

It was a day outing with Baby Cheng and Mummy.

First, we had Fish Head Noodle for brunch. Hehe..no breakfast for me and Baby Cheng because we woke up late! Should we say "padan muka" for no breakfast? NOPE! Haha..kinda lucky to skip breakfast, else it would be really hard to finish up the noodles.

Business Hour : 7.30 am - 3.00pm (close on alternate Tuesday)

This is quite a famous place for Fish Head Noodles in Seri Kembangan, although the main branch is in Cheras. The place is always fully patronized. By just looking at the crowd, one can expect good food here.

As usual, me and Baby Cheng shared a large bowl of Fish Paste Noodle. We don't fancy the Fish Head Noodle, not because it does not taste as good, but it is mainly because both of us prefer the Fish Paste better.

And yeah, this place serve Ambra Juice! My favourite drink when having Fish Paste Noodle!

Lunch after, we went to Alamanda Shopping Centre for grocery shopping. Esprit Outlet is a must visit shop in Alamanda. One should not expect the latest season of clothes in Esprit Outlet, but if you are getting something casual, so why not pay lesser to shop here? So coincidently, they are doing a promotion. From 1st to 10th of May, buy 3 pieces/items at 25% off with Citibank credit card. Good reason to shop, huh???

Big holes on my pocket!

Bought myself a pair of running shoes. This time it's not about excuses, I DO really need one. The current Adidas gym shoes that I have, caused me lots of pain if I jog for more than half an hour.

(FYI, I'm undergoing training for Standard Chartered KL Marathon - 10km Run)

An average performance Adidas Ignition W running shoes, which is within my budget. Cost me RM207.90 after 20% discount (original RM 259.90). Quite happy with the design and the pricing. Well..that is because, basically there are not many designs to choose from. Most of the running shoes (from NB, Nike, Reebok to Adidas) look ugly, and expensive! huh~

In addition to that, I've restocked Clinique All About Eyes. All this while, I thought it was an eye cream, but no no..it's an eye gel. LoLz..I'm quite blur sometimes. Haha!!

Asked if there is any discount or promotion, the SA rewarded me with a miniature Clinique High Impact Mascara and a Clinique Turnaround Concentrate. Huhu..syiok! (though i still prefer my Diorshow Unlimited Mascara, this comes handy for keeping in my toiletry bag)

We Love Korean Drama - Boys Over Flowers

RECOMMENDATION!!

Both Baby Cheng and I are addicted to this Korean Drama - Boys Over Flowers. This is the third version of F4 stories that I've watched. Starting with the Japanese - Hana Yori Dango, Taiwanese - Meteor Garden and now it's the Korean version - Boys Over Flowers.

This is the year 2009 F4 version, with the Korean F4 having better looks than the previous F4 groups. *huhu...* And well, the story line is more logical than the previous ones (lame excuses..i know, i know..).

Me and Baby Cheng finished watching the whole series during the weekend. It's addictive and is hard to let go any of the episodes. So guys, or girls shall i say..WATCH THIS DRAMA!!

Impromtu Outing @ IKEA & The Curve

- It's been so long since the last blog. Mmm..I felt really lazy recently, with no intention to go out from my house at all, thus, you know, there's nothing particularly special to blog about my boring life.

Supposedly today is a day for warehouse bust. I'm looking for a pair of running shoes. Haha..don't underestimate me, I will be participating in the 10km Run - Standard Chartered KL Marathon on the 28th of Jun 2009 (it seems to be an impossible mission but trainings are on the way!). After reading the reviews online about this warehouse sales which most of them are the negative ones, I've decided not to go.

Then, it was Baby Cheng's idea to go to The Curve. And since we're heading there, we visited IKEA too. Mummy requested us to get a dustbin and toilet brush set (I'm not very sure how it was called, but it is used to wash the toilet bowl..what do you call this?). Those were for use in Cher Hau's house. FYI, Cher Hau is our brother and well, his house almost finishes renovating, minus out the part of painting, touch up and cleaning.

We had our lunch in IKEA's Cafeteria, taking in their famous Swedish Meat Ball, and a Chicken Ham Sandwich. *slurrrppp..yummy..*

The way he looked at us was quite sceptical but we tried to ignore. And while i was away taking refill for my drink, he started to talk to Baby Cheng. WIERDO. Even when i was back, he intruded our conversation. Huh..okie..maybe he was trying to be friendly, but intruding strangers in their conversation without a proper approach was obviously RUDE.

After completing his meal, he waited, looked at us and continue to listen to our conversation. Both of us continued to ignore his presence and slowly finished our food. He left after that. What a day!

Lala..I've got these from IKEA too! Singoalla biscuits are extremely nice! I've tried this previously, at time when I make my complaint of hunger, Wong and Hew offered this to me. I'm crazily stocking them up (bought 5 packets of Singoalla). By this time, I've already finished a packet. *yummy yummy*

Each item shown above cost me RM4.90!

Lastly, I bought myself these bangles from the flea market at The Curve. There are plenty designs available and these three were chosen by me and Baby Cheng. My damage for these bangles is RM20!

其实我们比较喜欢吃 Jalan Ipoh 那间的 (去了那么多次, 都没注意那间店叫什么名字)

Sushi King @ Mid Valley

Another outing. This time to Mid Valley as Baby Cheng is looking for birthday presents for her besties. The mission is to get a simple bag for JacQ and a black colour jacket for Cynthia.

While wondering around, yup...it's dinner time...and since I was still keeping the RM30 Sushi King voucher from HSBC, we decided to have sushi. By the way, it's expiring 31st May 2009, so why not use it, rite?

Being not really hungry, we had a few plates of sushi from the belt and ordered a Tempura Udon set.

Our favourites (From Top-Left: Baby Octopus, Ebiko sushi, Inari sushi, and Tamago sushi)

Baby Cheng's favourite is the Baby Octopus. We had two plates of these! The first plate was already warm, so it tasted a little weird. But the second plate that we had was a cold one, so i think it was newly on the belt. Ohh..and we noticed that the amount of Baby Octopus was quite little compare to the last time we visited Sushi King (maybe, half a year back or longer). Cost down, maybe?

NEW item on belt - Philadephia Maki

The Philadephia Maki is the new item on the belt. A CHEESE wrapped maki. It taste OKIE, but not that special to me. I tasted better ones from other chain sushi restaurant.

Tempura Udon

Our Udon was overcooked. It was too soft. Nevertheless, the soup and the tempura are OKIE.

And yeah, the service in Sushi King is getting better. We have attentive waiters/waiteresses that are fast to serve, and are able to refill our green tea even before we finished a cup. If I would compared to the last time we went there, huh..."慢慢等啦。。。"

While eating, we had fun taking pictures too. Haha..cam whoring..

And there we goes, our bill totalled up to RM30+ (after HSBC discount of 10%)

p/s: Sushi King really need to improve on their food quality and service as there are many other chain sushi restaurant mushrooming.

Shookie's First Trial of Carrot Cake

My first trial with CARROT CAKE!

Google-ed around for Carrot Cake recipe and this is what I found:

Ingredients:

100g pecans/walnuts (toasted & coarsely chopped)
340g raw carrots (equivalent to 3 cups of finely grated carrot)
280g (2 cups) all purpose flour
2 cups granulated white sugar
1 1/4 cup vegetable oil
4 large eggs
2tsp baking soda
2tsp baking powder
2tsp ground cinnamon
2tsp vanilla essence
1/2 tsp salt

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch pan.
In a large bowl, beat together eggs, vegetable oil, granulated sugar and 2 teaspoons vanilla. Mix in flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Stir in carrots. Fold in pecans/walnuts. Pour into prepared pan.
Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely.

Tadaaaa...this is the outcome of my trial!

It actually taste quite good. However, the texture of the cake mimics the texture of a banana cake. I wonder why. Maybe too much baking soda? *Anyone able to answer me here?*

I'm thinking of making some adjustment to some of the ingredients so that it can make up to the taste that i like. Some of the amendments in mind:

150g pecans/walnuts (toasted & coarsely chopped)
4 cups of finely grated carrot
1 1/2tsp baking soda
1 1/2tsp cinnamon powder

Till my next baking with the trial adjustment..Tschus!!

Starbucks Breakfast @ The Mines

1st of April 2009. No April Fool jokes, instead we received sms(es) from DIGI. A tempting one! *wink*

Ah ha..being not able to say "NO", we finally found a good excuse to try out the Starbucks breakfast meal. Baby Cheng had to collect her spectacles and contact lens from from an optical shop in The Mines, hence we decided to collect it on the Saturday morning since both of us have to work during the weekdays. Yuuuhooo...good excuse, rite?

The Starbucks Breakfast set is at a promotional price of RM6.50, and it consists of:

Starbucks breakfast sandwich (of choice) : Minced Chicken Omelette Sandwich, Sausage Omelette Sandwich and Sunny Egg Sandwich
Freshly brewed tall coffee of the week (or add RM3.00 for a tall latte)

We wanted to try out a variety of the breakfast so these are what we had ordered:

Baby Cheng : Minced Chicken Omelette Sandwich with a tall coffee
Shookie : Sausage Omelette Sandwich and a tall latte

The Minced Chicken Omelette Sandwich is worth a try because you can hardly find it anywhere else. The bread is soft, and the flavoring is quite thick. Both of us like this sandwich a lot! While for the Sausage Omelette Sandwich, it goes well with the coffee. This sandwich brings out the originality taste of each ingredient.

Crocs - 2nd Pair At 30% Off

Tadaa..our new pairs of CROCS !!

Baby Cheng has always wanted to get a pair of Crocs since the day we confirmed on our AIRASIA flight to BALI. Her excuses were:

she will not need to bring an extra pair of shoes/sandal/slipper
she doesn't want to bring her Birkenstock and wet her sandal; else she wants to get another pair of flip-flop (excuses again..)

Alright. There were just excuses. When a woman wants to buy something she desires, there will be plenty of excuses for it. Same to me! *wink* I've always wanted one after hearing Umi's comment on her Crocs.

We got ours at Crocs outlet in Puchong, IOI Mall. Yeah, it's a brand new branch and it was newly opened a few days ago. Plenty sizes are available and I believe they are clearing fast due to the promotion that they are having right now. 2nd PAIR AT 30% OFF!!

Our damages:

Baby Cheng - A pair of golden Olivia (NEW!) - RM 139.00 [no discount on new design]
Shookie - A pair of pink Malindi - RM 90.30 (after 30% discount) + RM 17.80 (2 jigbitz)

I wore it out yesterday (it was a whole day outing) and yes, my Crocs is pleasantly comfortable. So, for those who wanted to get a pair, go with your partner and both of you will be entitled for discount!

Heng Kee Bak Kut Teh @ PJ Old Town

We had read a few blog reviews on Heng Kee Bak Kut Teh before we decided to write about it too. Not that we really want to comment about it, but this is the place where me and Baby Cheng decided to start our very first blog! Thus, last Sunday was a day for both of us to get ourselves busy by taking photos of the food. Since it was an unpredictable decision at time, we used our brother's SE phone to capture the photos. Well, though not professionally done, but we must agree that the photos taken are quite clear.

(Lesson 1: Bring digital camera everywhere we go!)

To us, Heng Kee Bak Kut Teh was a very famous Bak Kut Teh stall since 20 years back. I remembered patronizing this food galore frequently since I was a kid, way back when our family was staying in Old Klang Road. And so does Baby Cheng! It is surprising that she can remember this stall because she was extremely young then, maybe 3 or 4 years old. She can even remembered that we used to have Heng Kee Bak Kut Teh by the roadside.

Back then, Heng Kee was only a stall by the road side, and it was fast populated in the evening. On our visit, we could still remember a few significant VIPs at Heng Kee Bak Kut Teh.

The manly Lady Boss (she had short hair -- like a man). She was still around on our last visit. She takes order and count the bills. I believe she's the owner's daughter.
The Fat Fierce Woman (this is how my dad address her). This Fat Fierce Woman, i believe is the lady boss, was the cook at that moment. She easily got "pik chik" (stressed/tension) and scream most of the time. We did not see her, so i guess she would have retired.

(I do not think that I am good at expressing/describing them. We should have taken their picture. So, remember Lesson 1!)

To cut all the craps, below are the details of our visit:

Day/Time: Sunday, 22nd March 2009, 6.00pm
Location: Heng Kee Bak Kut Teh, 16, Jalan 1/10, 46000 Petaling Jaya, Selangor (known as Old Town)

Since we were there early, we managed to get a better table, and the food was served fast! However, due to climatic reason, despite a huge number of fans available, the place was quite hot and stuffy.

(Lesson 2: Tie your hair up if you have long hair, else you have to eat real slow)

The Bak Kut Teh in Heng Kee is served in bowl (not the claypot or the Klang style Bak Kut Teh). You will be required to order them separately. They comes with different sizes with different prices, of course:

Small: RM7.00
Medium: RM15.00
Large: RM21.00** ( not too sure of the pricing )

These are what we had:

Nothing much we can say about this Bak Kut Teh stall since it was already famous plenty of years back. The soup was clear, not too oily and herbal-ly sweet. We requested the waiter to add soup for us continuously! I love to eat the rice soaked with the soup, which explains why we need extra serving for the soup. (Haha!) Besides, the meat was tender.

We could not finish all the food, mainly because the order size was a little too much for us as it was recommended by the Boss. So, we take away/"tar pau" the leftover for Johnson (our family dog).

We paid RM62.00 (okie, it was dad who paid) for this meal. Personally, I would consider it slightly more expensive on the price, for 5 of us. Normally a claypot Bak Kut Teh, serve 5 persons will only cost approximately RM40-RM50.

Nevertheless, going back to PJ Old Town for Bak Kut Teh reminds me of my younger days -- my kindergarten, my primary school and the hustle and bustle of the street.

Finally, it is our first post!

Hu huuu..finally it is an official post for us (both me and Baby Cheng)! We have always wanted to own a blog and write some rubbish, but both of us do not have the effort to maintain it (okie, it is an excuse, so call us lazy).

After reading kampungboycitygal's blog, i find it quite fun to share a blog. What more when you can blog on FOOD! Wuahhhh!! It is so thrilling and exciting for me. This is how and why we started a blog, for BOTH of us!!

Both of us love food tremendously! Thanks to our mum whom cooks good food always and our dad for bringing us to nice eatery places (though it is by the road side -- mamak food is good, isn't it?). It is sort of a tradition or culture for us to look/search for nice food. We like strong taste food, thanks to our Teochew genes. Teochew commoners like us, like food that are serve hot and have strong tastes (especially salty food).

Well, i guess it is not so wise for us to blog just about food as there are plenty of food blog reviews available, so i guess we shall blog just about anything. Shopping, cooking, events and etcetera, etcetera!! Nevertheless, we love to comment and most importantly, criticize! *wink*
